Blind Positivity — A Covid-19 note by an Indian

Blind positivity, as always, made us blind towards “Prevention is better than cure”. I hope we survive, and let’s accept the defeat, but not give up on this virus. Let’s have our girt like soldiers on our border, as we are our soldiers now.

On the other hand, I would like to relate this attitude of us to a common issue in our society: Many Indian men and women (including myself) are always against criticisms (even constructive).

Today, if we are criticized by someone(constructive criticism with a possible solution) either we mock at them or seek self-validation from them or in the worst case scenario we term them as a negative person.

Being positive is good, but to avoid being blind, we need to be optimistic and hopeful. If we need to be optimistic we need to understand uncertainty. To understand uncertainty, an open mind is needed to courageously weigh the odds while looking at the positive ones. It’s not easy to weigh courageously the odds, but if we succeed, we will be safe in the distant future by defeating the second, possibly upcoming waves of covid-19. Let’s listen and swallow the humiliation for now to emerge stronger. Let's take it personally and question the authorities appropriately.
